Customer Reviews & Ratings
Came here on a Thursday night for dinner and we were seated immediately upon arriving. Very nice ambiance- not too bright but the salad/ sauce bar area was nicely lit up. It had cute drawings and was well labelled so you can find everything you want to try. I ended up getting a plate of seafood and another of veggies/ mushrooms. Really good variety of meat as well! Sushi rolls were solid- not a lot of creativity but lots of pretty normal rolls. The quality of fish was good. Tonkotsu broth ended up getting pretty salty towards the end. The spicy miso is very mild. The service was great- all the servers were really fast with all our orders. They didn't forget anything. They have a cheaper price at 9 PM so i would definitely stop by then next time.
The skinny: Tons of veggies House sauce is excellent Service ok Meat quality very high The lengthy: The wife wanted hot pot for lunch; happy wife happy life. :) We were greeted upon entry, the lighting was dimmer but not hard on the eyes. We ordered the miso broth and house broth- both seemed fine, we forgot to try each other's because the food was great. The self-serve veggie and seafood counter and sauce stations were full of fresh options: napa cabbage, acorn squash, squid, house peanut sauce, cilantro, and way more. The staff were attentive, taking away empty meat platters and coming around to ask for new rounds. I might suggest a more frequent circulation timing, since we had to flag a server one of our four rounds, but that was not a big deal. Sorry, no meat recommendations- I had trouble distinguishing the meats because they were all pretty good. I did not try the tonkatsu soup but the house was great. Spent right under $65 (includes tax and tip)- that is incredible. We will go back when we want to stuff ourselves but we will probably order less meat if it is just the two of us. :D
We had hotpot for two persons during lunch on a weekday. Ingredients bar was clean and the atmosphere was quiet, clean and nice. Service was good as well. I will definitely come back for hotpot.
I can't stop coming here. I like the sushi & hot pot. Came in on a Thursday night after 9pm & there's no wait. In fact it was not busy at all. Actually kinda slow. Just be sure to come early enough to enjoy your food. They close at 11pm but definitely come at 9p so there's ample time to enjoy everything. They start cleaning up around 10ish so go early. Late night is $28.99 for hot pot & sushi. Staff were friendly. I'll definitely be back
It's a little hard to rate food that I'm cooking myself lol but they have lots of options to choose from to spruce up your hotpot. My spicy miso broth wasn't very spicy, I could thankfully add lots of jalapeños and chili oil to my liking though. They also offer sushi as a part of their AYCE menu, but choices are limited without much variety. Sauces on the sushi are also lacking. Service was good, out waiter explained how everything worked and checked on us often. I did make the mistake of now lowering the heat on my burner and my hotpot burned which ruined the flavor. Thankfully it was my second bowl and I was getting pretty full so it didn't all go to waste. Parking is plentiful as it's in the Best Buy complex.
We always come here for the ayce and it is worth it for the price especially when you come for the late night happy hour
I came here on a tuesday morning with my boyfriend and it was a great experience. let me just start off with how amazing the service was despite there being only one worker. we did all you can eat sushi and hotpot. as for the broth, i opted for the sukiyaki and my partner got the spicy miso. there were only a few options for meats and they came in small portions but that was okay because our server was on top of it! she made sure our waters were never empty and was consistently checking in on us. they also have a self serve bar with tons of sauce options along with veggies, seafood, and noodles. i love me my cilantro and green onions. sushi was okay though. most of the rolls seemed to consist of the same thing but what can you expect at an ayce restaurant. i would come here again for the hotpot
Very fun place to try out if your group likes hot pot and want individual ones. You can choose a soup base for each person and then order meats and sushi to try together. While waiting, you can go to the buffet section to pick up veggies, noodles, or extra meat/fish balls for your bowl. It has a large variety. There's even two sauce stations for you to make your own sauce. I highly recommend the sukiyaki broth. It's super sweet and makes all your meat sweet as well. We did get a bit excited and filled ourselves up on mushrooms and udon since we love those, but after round 1, we started trying to cram in more meat. The servers were super nice and checked on us to make sure we'd always have meat coming while we work on our current plates. I honestly can't tell which plate was which meat, I just know our table enjoyed it pretty well. It was a super fun experience and I'd take my family here again for them to try it.
Spontaneous date night didn't disappoint. They had a really good selection of bar items for the hot pot and the appetizers were delicious! Servers were also very attentive to refilling broths and bringing out cuts of meat.
I recently dined at Shabu Gen with my family for dinner, and we had a wonderful experience! The variety of flavors you can choose from is fantastic, allowing everyone to customize their meal to their liking. I especially enjoyed their sushi and appetizers--they were delicious and a great way to start the meal. The service was impressively quick, and the staff was friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was really quiet, which made for a relaxing dining experience; I think we just happened to pick a good day to visit. I'd say the prices are quite reasonable, especially if you can eat your fill! Just a tip--make sure to come on an empty stomach to make the most of your visit. Overall, Shabu Gen is a great spot for a flavorful meal, and I look forward to returning!
